Dr. Gregory P. TemasDr. Gregory P. Temas is the founder of Temas Eye Center. He received his undergraduate degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, his medical training at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio and completed a residency in ophthalmology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Temas is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Temas started practicing in 1991 and is well known for introducing more advanced procedures than any other surgeon in the Triad, such as: Femto Laser Assisted Astigmatism Correcting Cataract Surgery (FLAACCS), no-needle-no-stitch cataract surgery, foldable lens implants, Multifocal and Astigmatism correcting (Toric) lens implants, radial and astigmatic keratotomy (RK), automated lamellar keratoplasty (ALK), laser refractive surgery (PRK and LASIK), Intacs Rings, Implantable Contact Lenses (ICL's), the ORA Intraocular Lens (IOL) verification system and advanced Glaucoma management to our area. He is the first and only surgeon in the Triad area certified to use both the LenSx and Catalys Femto Lasers for cataract surgery, the Verisyse and Visian nearsighted correcting implants; the Alcon and Abbott Toric implants; and the ReSTOR, Tecnis and Symfony Multifocal Implants.

Dr. Temas believes eyesight is the most important sense we have and is a very precious gift. He treats every patient as if they had only one eye and that eye is 'his'. For these reasons, Dr. Temas obtains advanced training before most other surgeons so he can provide patients the highest quality and most personalized medical and surgical eye care available. Dr. Temas has been awarded the 'Gold Surgeon Award' with LaserVision Centers (LVCI) and has been ranked one of their top 100 surgeons since 2001. He received the 'Top 10 Surgeons in the U.S. Award' numerous years from Sightpath Medical, one of the nation's largest cataract surgery service providers.

Dr. Temas is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the North Carolina Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and the North Carolina Medical Society.  Dr. Temas has lectured to various organizations locally and across the country.

Dr. Temas is on staff at these area hospitals: Novant Medical Center, Davie Medical Center in Advance, Pioneer Medical Center in King, Northern Surry Hospital in Mt. Airy and The Surgical Eye Center in Greensboro.
