Most people over 40 years old need to use reading glasses or bifocals to read small print. This is due to the natural aging of the eye where the lens becomes less flexible, also known as Presbyopia. Although the aging process cannot be reversed, we can remove the natural lens through Clear Lens Extraction and replace it with a Multifocal Lens Implant. The ReZoom and ReSTOR implants can return that"20 to 30-something" vision safely and permanently.
Please refer to the Clear Lens Extraction and Multifocal Lens Implant sections for more information.
Clear Lens Extraction (CLE) is an outpatient procedure where the natural lens of the eye is removed before it becomes cataractous. CLE is designed for patients who are not eligible for Laser or Implantable Contact Lens surgery. The procedure involes"washing" out the natural lens and replacing it with a permanent clear implant. CLE takes less than 5 minutes to perform and visual recovery takes only a few days. This is the same advanced procedure Dr. Temas uses for cataracts.
Consider Clear Lens Extraction if you:
I couldn't have asked for better treatment or outcome. The staff at both your office and the surgical center are superior by every measure. They are professional, knowledgeable and respectful of all patients. It was almost a fun experience! Although the cataracts in both eyes had impaired my vision, the thought of eye surgery was scary. But - my fears were all for "naught" - it was such a quick, PAINLESS procedure, I wondered why I had waited so long!
